We have
only just begun but according to Hebrews 13:8 (Amp) we find that; Jesus
Christ (the Messiah) is (always) the same, yesterday, today, (yes) and
forever (to the ages).
It is time for us to welcome this New
Year. Unfortunately, there are those who will have welcomed it in the
wrong way, but for those of us on Kingdom Assignment it is from the perspective
of Jesus Christ and His Church. Our Lord has proven Himself to be more
than enough this past year and in the years preceding and He is not about
to fail us now, we have only just begun. For those of us on Kingdom Assignment,
we realize He will be around for succeeding generations. A remarkable
affirmation of this is found in our devotional text as from the Amplified
translation we see the unchanging nature of our Lord God with the words
yes and forever.
It is time for us to welcome this New Year.
There
are doubters and questioners who try to intellectualize God and who have
made projections regarding the changes in the coming days, and some who
even question the very existence of God, but we do not need to join them.
It is more than enough for us to know that Jesus will still be Lord,
still
be a sin-bearer, mind-regulator, heart-fixer, a constant presence with
His people and an overwhelming resource. But, even more importantly for
those who God is directing, the Holy Spirit's energies will not fail,
and God, our God will still be the loving heavenly Father of all who
turn
to Him through the never ceasing work of His Son and Spirit.
As Kingdom focused Christians, we can
face every tomorrow with joy, with a great sense of excitement, always
expecting the unexpected, and the promise of even greater things (John
14:12). No matter how educated we may get, the gospel is simple and plain,
salvation will be through Christ Jesus because He is the only Saviour
(John 14:6) and no matter how we choose to question or what we choose
to believe one day before Him every knee will bow for the purpose of
confessing
that He is Lord. We have the Holy Spirit to speak to our hearts about
the ways of truth.
The Lord God is looking to the Church,
not a specific denomination, or specific congregation, but to the Church
as a whole. As He looked at the Church in the past, to prove the value
of His promises. God is looking to us and sending out the 911 - Wake
Up
Call as He waits to do immeasurably more than all we ask in accordance
with His power that works within us. Because He remains the same our
future
on Kingdom business is bright as His promises. Yes, we have only just
begun.
We have only just begun.
Let us pray: Lord, help us to face the future as people for the Kingdom, full of confidence and courage. We acknowledge that the Lord, our Lord, is the same and will be forever. As we look back over our lives we are provided with the evidence. All power and all grace are given through Jesus name. And as we move out in Kingdom Authority to take up our Kingdom Assignment in order to fulfill our Kingdom destiny remind us of our Kingdom purpose so that we might achieve what God wills for our lives. Help us to be more Ministry Minded and More Ministry Focused, as we have only just begun. In Jesus Name. AMEN.
