Flower
A Taste of Love
by Marian L. Wilcoxon
First Baptist Church of Gilford
Columbia, MD

Some say that honey tastes so sweet

But to us it came at our mother's feet.

A gift from heaven from God above

The taste of honey of a mother's love.

Mom, I didn't always agree with everything you said

But those were the times I got hurt instead.

So many times I thought you wanted control

Later realizing it was love coming from your soul.

You gave me more than you ever got

I hope you knew I never forgot

Everything you ever did for me

Thank you for letting me taste the fruit from your tree.

I'm what I am because of you today

Because you took the time to kneel and pray.

You were always there when I needed you most

You gave me what you had and held me close

I hope you knew how much I loved you

Because you showed me love pure and true.

A precious jewel like none other

I'm happy God chose you to be my mother.

Now my life is good because of the love you showed

It mapped out my path and helped me grow.

I learned about Jesus from you and Daddy you see

That's the most wonderful thing you ever gave to me.

I love you Mom
